CFG-FEA-BB. John A. MALTBIE, b. Sept. 30, 1862, Blanchester, Clinton Co., Ohio (Milo B.7, Milo B.6, Ammi 5, Benj.4, Dan.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). m. Apr. 10, 1887, Kitty DAUGHRITY, of Keosauqua, dau. of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. DAUGHRITY. Mr. MALTBIE went with his parents to Keosauqua, where he died Jan. 21, 1928. At a comparatively early age he took up and mastered the art of a marble cutter.
Later became a retail merchant. Treasurer of School District over 30 years, councilman 1897 to 1916, at which time he became Mayor and was so serving at the time of his death. Was Vice Chairman, Van Buren Co., Chapter of American Red Cross. Also Chairman for Sale of Christ- mas Seals. Memb. Lodge No. 10 (Masonic) later of Moore Chapter No. 23, Royal Arch Masons, later El Chanan Commandery No. 28, Knights Templars. "In short there has not been a community interest, looking toward our improvement and betterment, churches, schools or municipal, in which he has not loyally served."
